Translated from the Spanish original. Where they differ, the Spanish one holds.
Withdrawn in phase A2 (9 October 2026). "With this you could", "Things you could buy" and "Prices in" were removed from the app: their table of prices by country had to be maintained by hand and mixed sources that are not official. Goals are now the person's: they write the name and the price of what they want, with a grey example. A file with a goal from this list loses it, with a warning. This sheet remains as the history of the method and its sources.

The question it answers
"What could I do with my money, and when?" It is the line "With this you could:" under the big number, the list "Things you could buy" and the price of each goal that comes from that list.
The formula, in plain words
Each wish has a price in today's euros. The app looks for when the plan reaches that price, with the same calculation as the rest (see growth): "in 4 years", "already", or nothing if it takes more than 60 years.
Up to three wishes come out under the big number. The wishes are the person's (direction, Marek's clarification of 5 October 2026): first, the goals they marked as most important in My goals (the star of the personal goals), in their order. The rest of the line are examples to discover, one for each area their priorities do not cover, in this order:
| Area | Examples |
|---|---|
| Experiences | A weekend in a European capital, a month in South-East Asia, a trip to Japan |
| Housing | The deposit on a home (20 % of 80 m²), an 80 m² home paid for |
| Time | A year without working; living without working in the country of the prices |
They are three of the areas the direction asks to research (peace of mind, experiences, housing, learning, projects of one's own, time); learning (a year of university), cars and the wedding are in the full list and can be added as a goal.
There are no fixed terms. "Short, medium and long" was Claude's proposal, not a rule of Marek's: the term comes from each person's plan. Within an area, the dearest example the plan reaches before its years end comes out; if none arrives in that time, the cheapest, with its date. An example that does not arrive in 60 years does not come out; with a very small plan one or two may come out. Tapping an example adds it to My goals marked as important: it becomes a wish of the person's.
Each wish is calculated separately against the same plan, like every goal: none takes money from another and none has a desired date (those rules are left for their own spec and sheet, as the direction says).
Exact, with the months until a target from the growth sheet (monthsTo):
- A thing: target = its price.
- Living without working: target = 12 × the monthly cost with rent in the country of the prices / withdrawal rate (see cost of living, withdrawal rate and personal goals). When added, it is the goal "Living without working" with that country's estimate, which the person can adjust.
pick: of the candidates with months ≤ 60 × 12, the one with the largest target among those with months ≤ the plan's years × 12; if there is none, the one with the smallest target. With the same target, the first in the list.
Prices in: the country
The wishes and goals use the prices of a country: that of the region of the browser's language (es-ES → Spain, nl-NL → the Netherlands; a language without a region takes the most likely one, nl → the Netherlands). If there are no prices for that country, the Netherlands'. It is calculated on the device (Intl.Locale), kept nowhere, not in "Download my data", and can be changed with "Prices in: Spain". It changes nothing else: neither the inflation ("Rising prices in", see inflation), nor the table of countries.
Countries with prices: the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Portugal. A thing without a price in the chosen country is not shown in the lists; a goal that already had it (from a file) keeps the Netherlands' and says so ("Netherlands prices").
The prices
Today's euros, rounded as each source publishes them. "≈" marks the estimates: those calculated from other figures (housing, trips, months of living) and the rounded figures or those from a weak source.

- Months of living (a year without working, a year of university, living without working): cost of living, with rent, September 2026.
Consulted between 3 and 7 October 2026. From the environment where the sheet was written several websites could not be opened (ec.europa.eu, mlit.go.jp, honichi.com, travelvoice.jp, among others): their figures were read in search engines or in press quoting them. Marek must open each source and confirm the figure and its date (see what is pending at the end).
Assumptions
- A national average price represents what it would cost a person from that country; expensive cities cost much more.
- Prices rise with inflation: in today's euros, they do not change.
- The deposit is 20 % of the price (what a bank usually lends: 80 %); the taxes and costs of the purchase are not included.
- 80 m² is an average-sized home for one person or a couple, the same in every country so they can be compared.
- Travelling a month in South-East Asia costs what living there a month with rent does; long flights are not included.
- The region of the browser's language is the country where the person lives.
Validation (tests)
src/lib/connections.test.ts: each calculated price is redone from its data (80 m² × price per m², the 20 %, 2 × €224, ¥392,251 / 169.04, €15.37 × 60); each country has a publisher, a note and a date; the Netherlands is always there; the fees cover the six countries; a badly written figure makes the load fail.src/lib/calculator.test.ts: each list by country (no Dutch e-bike with Spain's prices, no new car with Portugal's); months of living with rent; a goal from a file keeps the Netherlands' price and says so.src/lib/wishes.test.ts: the person's priorities first; one example per area, in its order; the dearest within the plan's years and, if not, the cheapest; what takes more than 60 years; living without working with the country's cost; that the same numbers give the same wishes.src/lib/wish-country.test.tsandpackages/seed-kit/test/detect.test.ts: the region of each language, the Netherlands by default, and that it is not kept (neither in the file nor in the browser).src/components/money/entry.test.ts: the line under the big number, each wish with its when and icon, the "Prices in" selector.e2e/money.test.mts: in the browser, with the languagees-ES, Spain's prices come out; tapping an example adds it to My goals as a priority and it moves to the start of the line; changing the country changes the prices of the line and of My goals; nothing is left in storage.
Limits
- It is not a budget: they are national averages, and each source measures something different (asking price, price paid, list price, appraisal, survey).
- Only six countries have prices; the rest see the Netherlands'.
- Trips do not include long flights, which can cost as much as the trip.
- Wedding surveys are made by wedding websites, whose couples spend more than the average.
What is debatable
- Different bases by country. Spain and Portugal use appraisals; the Netherlands, Germany and France, sales; Italy, listings. Cars mix asking prices, prices paid and list prices; weddings, surveys of couples and supplier rates (the Netherlands and Portugal). Comparing countries is approximate. Cost: look for a single European source per thing (for housing there is none in levels, only in indices).
- Medians and means. The Netherlands and Portugal publish medians; the others, means. The mean is usually higher. Cost: none without new data; note it.
- Different years. Germany (housing) is from 2024, Italy's fees from the 2024/25 year and the Netherlands' new car from the first half of 2025; the rest, from 2025. Cost: update when they come out.
- 80 m² and the 20 %. In the Netherlands the average home is larger and banks lend up to 100 % of the value; in Spain, 80 %, and the purchase taxes are around 10 %. A single size and a single deposit simplify. Cost: a size and a deposit per country, with its source.
- "The dearest within the plan's years" decides. With Spain's prices, €20,000 and €400 a month for 20 years, the whole home comes out (€178,400), not the deposit: the rule looks at the price and the plan, not at what matters most to each person. That is why the person's priorities go first. Cost: research which wishes Europeans express (see the pending research) and order the examples with those data.
- Three areas of six. The line shows experiences, housing and time; peace of mind, learning and projects of one's own have no examples in the line yet. Cost: sheets for those areas, with sources.
- The language is not the country. A Spanish person living in the Netherlands with the browser in
es-ESsees Spain's prices. The selector is in view to change it. Cost: none without asking or keeping something, which the app does not do. - Japan with a single country. The spending of visitors from Germany (the biggest spenders together with those from the United Kingdom) is used for everyone; Europeans' stays in Japan are long (more than two weeks). Cost: use the average of the survey's European countries.
- Studying is not only a bachelor's. A master's can cost much more than bachelor's fees (in the Netherlands and Spain); in Italy, the fee depends on income. Cost: one more thing, "a year of a master's", with its fees by country.
To check by hand (Marek)
- Open each source of the table by country and confirm the figure, the date and what it measures; especially those read only in the press or in search engines: DAT-Report 2026, Bridebook, Bodas.net, Mariages.net, Matrimonio.com, Fixando, the Ministry of Housing's appraised value (4th quarter of 2025). Checked on 8 October 2026 (see
projects/wealth-lens/docs/continuity-2026-10-08.md); still not opened at their primary source: the Ministry of Housing's table, the MUR document, Standvirtual's report and RAI Vereniging's full-year 2025 figure.
History
- 2026-10-07: first sheet. The wishes ("With this you could"), the prices by country (six countries) and "Prices in" from the browser's language. No longer listed, without deleting them for the goals of old files: the 10 % deposit and the Netherlands' average house (now the 80 m² home and its 20 % deposit) and the master's in the Netherlands (now a year of university). The wedding, the used car and the new car go from a Dutch price to one per country.
- 2026-10-07 (2): the line's rule follows Marek's clarification of 5 October in
docs/direction.md: first the person's priorities; then one example per area (experiences, housing, time), the dearest within the plan's years; without "short, medium and long" or the list of countries to live more cheaply. "Stop working" becomes the goal "Living without working" of the personal goals. - 2026-10-08: corrections after checking the sources, without changing the rule. Japan: the final figure (¥392,251) and the ECB's rate of ¥169.04 → €2,320. Used car: the Netherlands €24,334, Portugal €24,200. New car: the Netherlands marked as the first half of 2025 (date 2025-06), Italy €29,600 (2025, no longer approximate). The Netherlands' used electric car: the 2025 average, €34,600. Solar panels: €3,800. Housing in Italy: the same figure, source idealista (not Immobiliare.it). Italy's fees: source MUR, year 2024/25 (not Federconsumatori), an official basis. Wedding in the Netherlands: supplier rates, not a survey (basis "asking prices").
- 2026-10-08 (2): a new basis "supplier rates" (
suppliersinsrc/lib/connections.ts), for the weddings of the Netherlands (ThePerfectWedding.nl) and Portugal (Fixando), which add up supplier prices instead of asking couples. Italy's new car: the source is whoever publishes the figure, the Centro Studi Fleet&Mobility (Mercato Auto a Valore 2025), not ANIASA, which reproduces it.
